For some subway passengers in Shanghai, the escalator etiquette of "standing on the right, climbing on the left" is strictly optional.

對一些乘坐地鐵出行的上海市民來說，“左行右立”這個電梯文明行為并不是一定要嚴(yán)格遵守的。

上文中的escalator etiquette指的是“電梯禮儀”，也就是乘坐電梯時應(yīng)表現(xiàn)的civilized behavior(文明行為)。如果這些etiquette沒有被遵守，那么就變成了negative behavior或者wrongdoings，即“不文明行為”。

不過，這份研究報告指出skipping security checks(不配合安檢)、littering on the platform(站臺亂扔雜物)、jumping the queue(排隊加塞)，以及stepping beyond the yellow warning line on the platform(越過站臺黃色警戒線)等不文明行為在上海地鐵里相對較少見到。

雖說“左行右立”在全世界都是common sense(常識)和standard practice(通行做法)，不過，在異常擁擠的上海地鐵里想要讓人們自愿讓出一條順暢的緊急通道似乎真是有點(diǎn)困難呢。
